INS: 175,317 cars newly registered in the first six months in Romania

The cars registrations grew by 19.2 percent in Romania during January-June up to 175,317 units, compared with the same period of 2015, according to National Institute of Statistics (INS).

According to the statistics, the total segment of cars for passengers transport registered a growth of 4.5 percent, to 180,275 units.

In the second quarter of the year the new registrations of new cars for passengers grew by 4.9 percent compared with the first semester, while the registrations of new cars for freight grew by 2.1 percent.

The statistics also shows that the national auto park from Romania amounted to approximately 6.6 million units at the end of 2015, a growth of 5.27 percent compared with the same period of the previous year.

Out of the total vehicles from the end 2015, approximately 5.15 million units were in the auto vehicles category, a growth of 5.04 percent, compared with 2014.

In Bucharest 1.19 million auto vehicles were registered at the end of 2015, out of which 956,664 units were motor cars.

Around 2.56 million cars were older than 12 years, a drop of 12.31 percent compared with the same period of 2014. Also, approximately 1.89 million vehicles in the auto national park has a usage period between 6 and 10 years, while 1.76 million had a usage period between 11 and 15 years. Approximately 1.20 million cars were older than 20 years.
